Recipe: Grilled Ojas Bananas

In ayurveda, we generally want to avoid snacking. It’s important to give our digestive system rest between meals. If we’re constantly snacking, we accumulate ama (toxic buildup) which is often a result of undigested food. This can lead to many health issues down the road.

I don’t snack a lot, but this is a special afternoon treat. I often find when vata time sets in - from 2-6pm, I experience a little energy slump and crave a little sweet treat. These ojas bananas are super easy to digest and absolutely delicious too. An ultimate ayurvedic indulgence. Also great served as breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients:

1 x banana, sliced long ways

1 teaspoon ghee

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of cardamom

Pinch sea salt salt

Optional drizzle of maple or jaggery

Method:

In a cast iron or stainless steel frying pan, heat the ghee until hot. Add the banana and spices and grill for 1 minute on each side. If more sweetness is desired, serve with a little jaggery and a sprinkle of salt.

Enjoy!
